This is the Mantra Om - a sacred Sound
OM
or AUM is the most important and significant word of Mantra tradition. It
is considered as the root mantra of all mantra. OM is the
most often chanted sound among all the sacred sounds on earth. This sound
is considered as the sound of the existence.
It is believed
that the whole universe, in its fundamental form, is made up of
vibrating, pulsating energy. Om is considered as the humming sound of this
cosmic energy.
Unlike most other mantras there is no meaning to OM as it is not a word but rather a Sound. Within the Hindu tradition OM is the purest name of God and in other traditions it is the Source or the Divine. Repetition of OM dissolves the mind into its Divine Source - you connect to the holistic source/soul self being that is the perfect you.
Chanting OM can purify a space and bring the sacred to the prosaic space. Start by chanting OM 7 times in succession. Take a deep breath and as you exhale chant the sound Ooooooo....hhhhhh.....Mmmmmmm, making each breath last as long as possible, breathing deeply filling your lungs fully each time you inhale.
After you have finished chanting sit in silence for a moment and appreciate and acknowledge the difference in your energy and that of the space around you. Within a group as you chant together, you will create a cohesive group bringing the Divine Source Energy into the group space.
The voice
has a tremendous ability to be an instrument for healing - all levels of
consciousness and action are intimately connected to the physical. Our speech
is comprised of two elements: consonants and vowels.
In Tibetan
beliefs, the most important musical instrument is the human voice, and Tibetan
shamans are taught to use outer sound projection to create inner esoteric
vibrations, so that the head and chest are used a vibration chambers to raise
the vibrational frequency of the whole body.
Singing our
soul song, or using a mantra can connect us to Spirit, Our Higher Self and to
All That Is.
We will be exploring how sound affects our vibrational frequency, and how to raise our vibrations through sound meditation, chanting and using other sounds to bring about healing. Raising energy to send out to the planet for Earth Healing.
Meeting in the White Room @The Bank, Eye, Suffolk.
